Most of us will have made a New Year's Resolution at the start of this year. Nearly 7 million adults do. However, only 1 in 10 of us will succeed and even worse 1 in 5 of us will lose our resolve within a week! Maybe even worse than that is the fact that one third of us make the same one each year!
So why do New Year's Resolutions fail?
Professor Richard Wiseman from the University of Hertfordshire has been researching this very question. From his research it would seem that resolutions fail because of a few crucial factors. Resolutions are often just wishful thinking rather than a detailed plan of action of how to turn the wishes into reality. Setting unrealistic goals and giving up at the first setback are common reasons why people don't succeed.
So the good news . . . . .
Julia Shambrook, Dietitian at The Village Clinic, Bishops Cleeve runs a Weight Management Program that is quite different from other weight loss schemes around. It is based around behavioural change and empowers the client to take control of their resolutions (regardless of the time of year!). This program isn't a quick fix nor a restrictive dietary regime but something which enables the client to make long-term lifestyle changes by setting realistic, achievable goals, as well as developing coping strategies and learning how to self-monitor. Ongoing support is vital and is provided throughout the program.
So if you are fed up of making the same resolutions each year then give Julia a call for your FREE 15 minute consultation to see if this might be something suitable for you. |
